On the morning of April 4th, Vice President WANG Yi of Renmin University of China went to the School of Information Resource Management to supervise the construction of the laboratory followed by Secretary of the School Party Committee JI Hongbo, School Dean and Professor LIU Yuenan, Vice-Dean and Professor NIU Li, Professor ZHANG Meifang, and laboratory teachers.

Vice President WANG Yi visited the Special Library of Ancient Nooks, the Chemical Laboratory of Archives and Documents Protection, the Laboratory of Archives and Documents Protection and Restoration, the Laboratory of Archives and Harmful Organisms Prevention and Control, the Technology Workshop of Data Permanent Storage, Restoration, and Migration, and the Laboratory of Digital Humanities Technology. Professor ZHANG Meifang introduced the basic functions, equipment utilization, practical teaching, and scientific research work of each laboratory.

Vice President WANG Yi praised the current work of the School’s laboratories. In particular, the works of Professor ZHANG Meifang, including the rescue and protection of archives during the May 12th earthquake in Wenchuan County and the July 20th rainstorm in Zhengzhou City, have been highly evaluated. Vice President WANG Yi pointed out that the School’s service to the party and the state and the School’s social responsibility are embodied within the laboratory work. WANG Yi emphasized that the School must promote the subject characteristics of archival science, fully protect and make good use of the red resources, and inherit the red genes and the red blood.

The school of Information Resources Management will continue to strengthen the laboratory construction work, constantly promote the document heritage ontology protection, digital and visual research in the new liberal arts laboratory construction process, and make the laboratory play an important role in teaching, scientific research, and personnel training.
