From October 25-28, the International Council of Archives (ICA) held an online conference on “Enabling the Knowledge Society”. The paper “How to Promote Public Participation in Digital Memory Project? The My Peking Memory Project Experience” by Prof. Huiling Feng , Prof. Yongjun Xu , Dr. Li Niu and Dr. Xiaoshuang Jia was accepted and presented at the conference.
This conference aims to provide a platform for professionals around the world to share new ideas, develop new projects, and discuess new research results. It aims to explore the key role of international archivists in the 21st century knowledge society, providing a platform for professionals from around the world and helping international archivists expand their influence.
As a representative of the conference, Dr. Xiaoshuang Jia reported the results of the project supported by the Digital Memory Interdisciplinary Platform, a major interdisciplinary innovation planning platform of Renmin University of China: “My Peking Memory Project(MPMP). This project, led by the Humanistic Beijing Research Center of Renmin University of China, is a long-term digital memory project based on public participation, aiming to capture, record and explore the public’s precious and cultural memories about Beijing. At present, MPMP has collected more than 2,000 memory entries and 7 thematic memory collections online, playing an increasingly important role in preserving Beijing’s documentary heritage and cultural memory.
