Dr. Xiaomi An won the 2021 International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC) 1906 Award, an award in recognition of Dr. An’s effective leadership as the convener of the Terminology Working Group of IEC Smart City System Committee and her efforts in the drafting and publishing of IEC SRD 63235:2021 standard on smart city terminologies. This is the first time that a faculty of our school won an international award in the international standard community.
International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC) is the earliest and a highly influential international standardization organization in the world, which focuses on formulating international standards in electrical and electronic fields. The IEC 1906 Award was established in 2004 to honor technical experts from various countries who have made outstanding contributions to IEC. Since the establishment of this award, about 1,000 experts have won this award, most of whom are from America and European countries.
Dr. Xiaomi An’s works demonstrate how the Chinese library, information and archives communities could make unique contributions to the bigger societies, through the development of international standards.
