The 11th Plenary Session of the ISO/IEC JTC 1/WG 11 Smart City Working Group was held online from December 14 to 18, 2020. Dr. An Xiaomi, as a member of this working group, attended the meeting and lead the discussion on the new Data Use Task Group.
Dr. An Xiaomi introduced her National Social Science Foundation Major Program dedicated to use uses in smart city projects, and proposed a research agenda centering on data availability, usefulness, usability, and interoperability of data in smart city projects. This agenda lead to the establishment of the new Data Use Task Group, with Dr. An serving as the convener. The task group will conduct landscape plan, review related standards, and conduct any future study and standard composition related to this topic.
This session also showcased progresses made by the group in 2020: JTC 1/WG 11 published three international standards and initated the development process of four others. Moreover, Dr. An was also chosen to attend the ISO/IEC JTC1 /AG18 Terminology Task Group as a representative of JTC 1/WG 11.
