Ruan Lian, the director of the Library of the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, and Wang Lian from the Capital Normal University were invited by SIRMS for a visit and having exchanges in the afternoon of November 24,. Associate Professor Niu Li, deputy dean of SIRM, attended the meeting, along with laboratory members and some graduate students.
Deputy dean Niu Li introduced the history of SIRM and the current situation of SIRM, and also showed the research results of SIRM’s web development laboratory: the first is the studies on business records utilization and knowledge service, which aims to use knowledge map to deepen the mining and utilization of knowledge from records; the second is the AI technology platform independently developed by the laboratory, which integrates the technology research and development results of teachers and students in the laboratory, and it aims to provide technical support for the studies on smart archives; the third is the case of project results.
Professor Ruan Lian expressed her interests in the above research results, and shared and exchanged valuable foreign research results in the field of digital humanities with teachers and students on the spot. Professor Ruan Lian pointed out that the research in the field of library and information science, no matter what kind of technology is used, no matter what kind of content is faced with, it is important to create value for readers and users.
Deputy dean Niu Li expected that the two sides could carry out more in-depth exchanges and cooperation in academic exchanges and student training, he promoted the long-term development of SIRM’s talents training, scientific research, etc., and helping students expand their research vision, and improve the professional quality.
