President Zhang Bin led a delegation to visit American colleges and universities and participated in iConference 2019 and won the right to host iConference 2021.

From March 31 to April 3, 2019, iSchools, the International Union of Information Schools, held the iConference 2019 conference at the University of Maryland on the theme of "Enlightenment, Inclusion and Enlightenment". More than 60 deans and nearly 700 participants from the Global Information Institute attended the meeting. Professor Zhang Bin, Dean, Assistant Professor Wang Jian and Associate Professor Yan Hui attended the meeting. During the meeting, Professor Sam Oh, Chairman of iSchools Alliance, announced at the meeting of the deans of the Institute of Global Information that our institute would host the annual iConference 2021!

As a member of the iSchools Alliance Council, President Zhang Bin participated in the meetings of the Council, the Global Presidents' Meeting and the Asia-Pacific Presidents' Meeting, participated in the discussions on the major issues of iSchools' global governance, the iSchools Digital Humanities Course Committee and the Data Science Committee, and the Asia-Pacific iSchools Certification Project, and made the voice of the NPC. Professor Wang Jian and Associate Professor Yan Hui attended the meeting together.

During the Global Presidential Conference, iSchools announced the establishment of the Digital Humanities Curriculum Committee and the Data Science Curriculum Committee to further promote the reform and development of iSchools education. Professor Feng Huiling of our college was elected as the Advisory member of the Digital Humanities Course Committee, and Assistant Professor Chao Lemen was elected as the Data Science Course Committee.

During the meeting, Professor Zhang Bin and his delegation discussed future cooperation with the deans of the School of Information Science of Washington University, University of Maryland, Dressel University, Syracuse University and University of Illinois at Champaign, and reached preliminary cooperation intentions in the fields of teachers' academic cooperation, student exchange, joint training and summer school.

At the iConference 2019 conference, Professor Yan Hui, as the first organizer, jointly organized a seminar with Noah Lenstra, Assistant Professor of the University of North Carolina at Greensburgh, Kate Williams, Associate Professor of the University of Illinois at Champaign, and Han Shenglong, Associate Professor of Peking University on the theme of "Human Initiative for Digital Inclusion: Technological Support for the Global Research Project on Social Networks". Human agency towards digital inclusion: Implementing an international study of technical help networks. Twenty-nine scholars from 16 universities in nine countries, including Dominica University, Gujarat Central University, Hebei University, Rutgers University, Nankai University, Oxford University, Norwegian Arctic University, Northwest Normal University, Sheffield University, Yunnan Normal University and Zhejiang University, gathered to discuss the research plan of the global cooperation project.

On March 29, 2019, President Zhang Bin and his delegation visited the School of Information, Washington University. Professor Harry Bruce, former Dean, Professor Anind K. Dey, Vice Dean Matt Saxton, Vice Dean Joe Tennis, Undergraduate Project Director of Informatics Andy Ko, Assistant Professor Chris Coward, Nicholas Weber and Professor Zhang Bin launched a comprehensive discussion on the cooperation between the two sides, discussing the cooperation of undergraduate and graduate projects, teaching and learning. Teachers' cooperation in scientific research and other matters. At the same time, we visited the Library and Archives of Washington University.

On April 2, 2019, President Zhang Bin and his delegation visited the National Archives of the United States to discuss with Sam McClure and Mr. Sam Anthony the hot issues of electronic record management, social media document management and possible exchanges and cooperation.
President Zhang Bin's visit is an important measure to strengthen the "two-class" construction in our institute. It has greatly enhanced the international influence of Renmin University of China and directly promoted the in-depth cooperation with the top library, information and archives management educational institutions in the United States.
