Two postgraduates from National Archives College of French gave lectures on Heritage and Memory

On November 7, Julie Glodt and Lou Delaveau, postgraduates of the National Archives College of French (ENC-École nationale des chartes), gave lectures on Heritage and Memory in the ROOM 402. The lecture was organized by Research Centre for Humanistic Beijing and SIRM@iSchool. It was hosted by Associate Professor Linqing MA. More than 70 faculties and students attended the lectures.

Julie Glodt and Lou Delaveau have conducted extensive and in-depth investigations on the project of Beijing Memory, the protection of culture of traditional villages, and the project of protection of Tieyihao ancient buildings.

                                             

Julie Glodt gave a comprehensive introduction to the French historical and cultural heritage, especially the material culture such as architecture, with the theme of “Preserving Heritage Saving Memory in France from French Revolution to Digital Era”. She also introduced various organizational focusing on the protection of French historical and cultural heritage.

Lou Delaveau’s theme is "The Comédie-Française's (French Comedy) Library and Museum", which introduces the world-renowned French Theatre and its "Menco" books. French Comedy is a comprehensive cultural center of the theater, library and archives. It contains a large number of precious manuscripts, paintings and sculptures reflecting the French social culture in different periods.

Finally, Dr. Linqing Ma made a summarize and gave comments. The students had an in-depth exchange and discussion with Julie and Lou on the issues of French archival science education and the projects of French historical and cultural heritage.
