Prof. Xiaomi An attended the 3rd plenary meeting of IEC SyC Smart Cities, 2 international standards proposal initiated by RUC was passed

From Jan 29th to Feb 2nd, 2018, the third plenary meeting of IEC SyC Smart Cities was held in Dortmund City Hall, Germany. The Chinese delegation sent 14 experts to attend the meeting. At the same time, IEC Smart City Summit was held in Dortmund City Hall. More than 50 experts from more than 10 countries, including China, Germany, the United Kingdom, the United States, Japan, Austria, Singapore, Mexico, South Korea, India and South Africa, attended the meeting. Alexander Nollau, Minister of Energy and Transportation of the German standardization body DKE, introduced the current status of Germany in the field of smart city standardization.
Michael Mulquin, the convener of WG1 delivered a working group report. The Plenary adopted three WG1 proposals: the Smart City System Conceptual Architecture Methodology, the Smart City Glossary, and the Smart City Conceptual Framework Ontology. Among them, Prof. Xiaomi An from Renmin University of China was the initiator of the first two proposals, and was also the co-convenor of WG1. Relevant participating units were: School of Information Resource Management in Renmin University of China, Beijing Zhichengxinfu Technology Co., Ltd., Shandong Institute of Standardization, Hubei Standardization and Quality Institution, Cyberspace Great Wall, China Electronics Standardization Institute, etc.
Chinese expert Dr. Biyu Wan, the convener of WG2, delivered a working group report. At present, WG2 is conducting pre-research in the fields of smart city research methodology, smart water affairs, and smart city planning. The units involved in the pre-research were: CCKS, THUPDI, INESA, etc.
Indian expert Kishor Narnix, the convener of WG3, delivered a working group report. The plenary passed two new proposals for WG3: the smart city standard catalog mapping method and the smart city reference technology model. The participating unit was the Shandong Institute of Standardization.
The plenary decided to establish a smart city summit mechanism in the field of electronics and electrotechnology. From 2018, a quarterly report will be issued for reference by smart city-related industries and governments. At the same time, the IEC Smart City WG will organize two or three Global Smart City Summits in 2018.
The plenary decided the time and place of the next plenary meeting: the next meeting will be held in Washington, USA from July 9th to 13th, 2018.
