Two professors from UIUC Visited SIRM and Gave a Lecture on Libraries and People in Times of Digitalization and Social C
Prof. Abdul Alkalimat and Associate Professor Kate Williams gave a lecture on "Libraries and People in Times of Digitalization and Social Crisis" at Room 209 in Information Building on 14th, October. Prof. Abdul Alkalimat and Associate Professor Kate Williams are from School of Information Science, University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign (UIUC). Professor Jian WANG and Associate Professor Hui YAN from SIRM, Professor Xiudan YANG from Department of Information Management Engineering of Hebei University School of Management, Associate Professor Shenglong HAN from Department of Information Management of Peking University, Dr. Lifen ZHENG from Capital Normal University, and a number of students from Peking University and SIRM attended the lecture.
Prof. Abdul Alkalimat indicated the some difficulties and crisis had appeared during the process of reformation from industrial society to informational society. And then Associate Professor Kate Williams introduced their four projects of Little Free Library Action, The Elderly Using IT Action Research Project, eBlack Champaign-Urbana Plan and Ferguson Missouri and memory Project. After the leuture, comes a lively discussion.
At the final stage, Prof. Jian WANG made a conclusion and expressed her gratitude to the two professors on behalf of SIRM and hoped that the future cooperation will be further strengthened on the basis of the results achieved.
