At 20 minutes past 8 o’clock, in the evening of March 12, classroom 0124 of the information building was full of students from SIRM and SI. Taught by Korea philologist Li Yinshu from Korea (now teaches in Beijing Foreign Studies University), the students began to learn Korean. This was the fist class since the Korean class opened last term.
This is the class one of Korean classes. The students include 2005 and 2006 grade archives classes students, several graduates and all grades of students from SI. These students showed great enthusiasm in Korean study.
Before the class began, Ji Hongbo, secretary of CPC SIRM committee and Doctor Li Mintai, who joins in the organization of Korean class each gave brief speech. They highly praised the students who actively took Korean class and encouraged students to study hard; hoped students took this chance to know more about the Korean culture; to improve the communication ability and prepare for the volunteer service of Beijing 2008 Olympic Games.
Then the language study began. Teacher Li Yinshu spoke fluency Chinese and communicated well with the students. In this class, the students learn vowel, the basic of Korean. Although this was the first time to contact Korean, everyone was enthusiastic to learn and learned quickly. Teacher Li was very satisfied about the students and frequently said “Very good! Very good! “.
In addition, class two of Korean classes will begin on March 13 in class 0125 in the information building. This class includes other Korean language study students of SIRM. Teacher Piao, senior Korean philologist will be the teacher of this class.
The opening of Korean class has great meanings, which not only satisfies the students’ enthusiasm of learning foreign language, but also make good foundation for the volunteer service of Beijing 2008 Olympic Games. Therefore, CPC SIRM committee and CPC SI committee, Communist Youth League Committee SIRM branch and SI branch make plenty work. In fact, before the opening of Korean class, SIRM has successfully held a series of lectures on Olympic knowledge. The two schools not only hope this Korean class will be successful, but also hope this teaching pattern will continue and advance the communication between Korean culture and Chinese culture, and make SIRM and SI of RUC become the base of academic communication between Korean culture and Chinese culture.
