In order to advance the construction and development of the Ministry of Education’s key laboratory of data and knowledge engineering, the Ministry of Education’s key laboratory of data and knowledge engineering 2007 academic committee conference was held on December 16 in RUC. Professor Feng Huiling, vice president of RUC attended the conference and issued the appointment letter for academic committee member. The academic committee invited academician Lu Ruqian, from Mathematics Research Institute of the Academy of Science of China as chief director of the committee, Professor Wang Shan as associate director of the committee. Professor Han Jiawei from UIUC University of US, Professor Zhou Xiaofang from Queensland University of Australia and other three overseas scholars, academician He Xingui from Peking University and so on about 10 scholars were hired as academic committee members.

Professor Feng Huiling presented important speech, introduced the construction plan and thoughts of the sciences and engineering subjects of RUC, as well as key laboratory’s character of combine art and science subjects and the construction characteristic and so on to the academic committee. Professor Du Xiaoyong gave a report on the laboratory construction situation to the academic committee; Associate Professor Li Cuiping gave an academic report on control relationship analysis technology with microscopic economical view. Academic committee discussed extensively on how the laboratory accepting Ministry of Education’s checking as well as the construction and development of the research direction of laboratory. Committee members all agreed that constructed the Ministry of Education’s key laboratory of data and knowledge engineering well was an important and good matter of domestic database and the relative domain construction.
