The First PhD Forum on Archives was held in RUC in Beijing

The First PhD Forum on Archives was held in RUC in Beijing, in 17th-18th April, 2001. Entrusted by ICA/SAE, Archives College in RUC organized the conference.The participation of many famous scholars made this forum the highest level of international forum on archives in the history of AC. The forum also evoked worldwide effect on archives. The famous foreign guests included Dr Luciana Duranti, chair of the InterPARES; Professor Michael Cook, who is highly regarded in archival academe; Professor David Bearman, expert on managing electronic records and so on. Dr Karen, chair of ICA/SAE and many other foreign scholars called and mailed to congratulate on the forum. During the forum,- Michael Cook, professor of Liverpool University, was engaged as visiting professor of AC and David Bearman, expert of electronic record, was presented the Chinese version of his book"Electronic Evidence", which was translated by the teachers and students of AC. The conference papers, materials, reports, on- the-spot communication translations were all finished by the teachers and students of AC. After the forum and lectures, the teachers and students of AC showed visitors the reference room and laboratory. The educational scale, communicating enthusiasm, good English and high specialty research theory of AC had left good impression on visitors. The experts demonstrated that they will use every opportunity to propagandize the achievement of archival research of AC and present more books to AC. The Association of American Archivists, the Association of Canadian Archivists and UNESCO also reported the AC in publications and websites.
