Professor Val Gillet, Dean of Information School of the University of Sheffield, Dr. Miguel Nunes and Dr. Angela Lin visited our school on 28 November 2014. Professor Bin Zhang, Dean of School of Information Resource Management, Professor Xiaobin Lu, Vice-Dean of SIRM, Professor Jian Wang, Assistant Dean, Professor Xiaomi An and Chan Ma warmly met the delegation and had a heated discussion over bilateral communication and cooperation with them.
During the meeting, Dr. Miguel Nunes and Professor Wang Jian gave a brief introduction to the two schools and universities respectively, focusing on the academic system, student information, curriculum, scientific institutions and research fields. Later on, representatives of both schools had a further communication about future cooperation on the school level. It is widely acknowledged that the University of Sheffield has an international reputation and a long history of more than a hundred years. It is a member of the Russell Group, which is a union of top universities in UK. Information School of the University of Sheffield has a top academic strength in the field of library and information studies in UK.
This visit laid a good foundation for the communication and cooperation between Information School of the University of Sheffield and SIRM. We are looking forward to a future cooperation in scientific research and student cultivation.
