The Key Laboratory Open Day

On November 24th, the Key Laboratory of Data Engineering and Knowledge Engineering (Ministry of Education) Open Day was successfully held. The open day was aimed at improving the academic exchange of the key lab and building the free and innovative study environment as well as attracting the senior students to join in the lab.

At 9 o’clock, the opening ceremony was held at the lecture hall in Information Building. Professor Wang Shan and Du Xiaoyong from School of Information, Professor An Xiaomi from School of Information Recourses Management attended the ceremony. Professor Du made the opening speech with the academic report titled as “What You Get Is What You Want”. Then Professor Shi Wenchang talked about the Information Security in the future. The two speeches were advanced but very understandable that arose the students’ enthusiasm on information field.

In the afternoon, students were divided into two groups to visited part of the labs. The open lab were the Knowledge Management (Metadata & Data Element) Lab for Professor An and her team, the High-performance Data Base Lab for Professor Wang and her team, the Data Base and Intelligent Information Retrieval Lab for Professor Du and his team, the System and Information Security Study Lab for Professor Shi and his team and Lu Jiangheng team’s Web and Mobile Data Management Lab.

The Open Day showed the achievements the labs got during the two years after its foundation. What’s more, it also demonstrated the study level of the teams and taught students how to study while led more students to their interested field.
