“Guangzhou Memory” project successfully passed the mid-term review

On the morning of September 20, “Guangzhou Memory” Project Mid-term Review Meeting was held in Guangzhou.
The meeting was presided over by Yue Sun, deputy director of Guangzhou Municipal Planning and Natural Resources Bureau. President of Urban Planning Association An Pan, Former Research Librarian of Guangdong Museum Bingquan Deng, researcher of culture and history research center of Guangzhou City Zehong Chen, Professor of School of Computer Science, South China Normal University Bo LIU, Professor of School of Communication and Design Yuan Feng served as reviewer. Project manager Prof. FENG, other members including Yongjun Xu, Bisheng Chen, Li Niu, Xiaoshuang Jia and experts from cooperation units participated in the meeting and reported on the project.
Firstly, Prof. FENG reported on the overall progress of “Guangzhou Memory” project and introduced the next work plan. Then, Prof. XU reported on the sub-project “General Plan of the Construction of Guangzhou Memory Digital Resource Platform”. Prof. CHEN reported on the sub-project “An Analysis of Guangzhou's Historical and Cultural Structure and Elements”. Prof. NIU reported on the sub-project “Technical Development Scheme of Guangzhou Memory project”. Dr. JIA reported another 5 sub-projects. Lastly, Jiejian Qin reported their research results of the sub-project in charge of Guangzhou Linnan Architecture Research Center.
The participants discussed the Guangzhou Memory Project. The experts reached a consensus on the value and significance of the project. They fully affirmed the importance of using advanced technical means to protect the memory of the city in the digital age. They believed that the project was important in enhancing cultural value and the sense of participation of urban citizens. Experts also suggested that the project should further focus on the position and target audiences.
Yong SUN and Prof. FENG discussed and determined the deployment for the next step. So far, the Guangzhou Memory Project has passed the mid-term expert review successfully, and will keep sustained progress.
