On 16th October, the Key (Key grant) Project of Chinese Ministry of Education (code 109005) “Knowledge Management Oriented Construction Study on the Records Management System of National Scientific Research” was convened at RUC, hosted by the School of IRM and the Key Laboratory of Data Engineering and Knowledge Engineering (Ministry of Education) Discussion Group. Professors and experts from State Archives Bureau, Chinese Academy of Sciences, Tsinghua University, etc, and students from SIRM took part in the meeting. Professor An, the director of the group and researchers introduced the recent proceeding of the project, and the new theory, methods and technology of the records management.

Firstly, Professor An introduced the recent proceeding. She innovatively posted out a management idea “BRK” to adapt the complex interdisciplinary and cross-system records management under the background of informatization. The group has published a series of articles in the mechanism, model and plan of construction of the record management system. They also made up an exposure draft . Then, Doctor Dong gave an speech on the “Process Management of the Government Information Recourses Life Cycle” on behalf of Professor Zhou Xiaoying.
 

Chinese Academy of Sciences Archive Chief Tu Yueming talked about the practice and exploration on the archives and records management of scientific research projects. He emphasized on the instruction of ARP system. Chang Hong from Ministry of Science and Technology and Xue Sixin from Tsinghua University Archive discussed the current situation and problems of archive management of their organizations respectively.

Other members of the group, Ren Ming, Cui Peng, Xia Tian, teachers from SIRM of RUC introduced the Business Intelligence Technology, Mass storage systems, and the possible application of these technologies in the management of scientific archives and records. The students of the group also reported on the achievements of the group in term. At last, participants discussed on the problems and solutions of the management of scientific archives and records. Guests were very pleased that they all admitted the best practice the group achieved was very useful and practical. They warmly expected the deeper communication and cooperation.
