From the end of September to the beginning of October, 2010, Vice-President of SIRM, Professor Zhang Bin, Deputy Secretary of branch party committee, Wang Dan, Dean Assistant, Professor Wang Jian and Xu Yongjun went to Canada and the United States. They successively visited University of British Columbia School of Library, Archival and Information Studies, Illinois Institute of Technology Business School, University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee School of Information Studies, Wright State University Business School, OCLC, CAS and University of California, Los Angeles Information Department.

At the SLAIS, the new Dean, Professor Caroline Haythomthwaite and Chief of UBC international exchange department, Helen Pennant had a talk with our delegation. Both sides expressed the hope of the further communication and cooperation and the exchange between students. Professor Zhang introduced the classes that foreign teachers taught in our school and the internship that foreign students could take during the summer vocation in our school. Haythomthwite and Pennant showed their keen interests in these programs and expressed their warmly welcome for the coming of our delegation.

At the Stuart School of Business, Illinois Institute of Technology, the Assistant Dean of the school, Benjaman E. Van Vliet, the chinese principal Meilina Li talked with our teachers. Professor Zhang introduced the education and research situation of information recourses management and knowledge management in our school. He also delivered the hope of the further cooperation between two schools and the exchange between students during the summer vocation. Benjaman agreed on the perfection of the cooperation program and the exchange of students. They talked about the exchange program on details and reached an agreement.  

At the School of Information Studies, University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee, the vice-president of the university, dean of studies, dean of the information studies school, Johannes Britz met with our teachers. They talked about the interested cooperation programs, such as students exchange and internship in China for foreign students. The delegation also discussed with the well-known library information expert, Professor Jin Zhang, and Professor Dietmar Wolfram, on the discipline development of information recourses management.

At Raj Soin College of Business, Wright State University, Dean of the School, Professor Berkwood M. Farmer and Professor Jiazhi Yan had a talk with the delegation. Professor Farmer pointed out that the Raj Soin College of Business paid special attention on the communication and cooperation with SIRM. Both sides reached an agreement on the study in Raj Soin College of Business for students from our school.  

They also visited OCLC, CAS and The Department of Information Studies, The University of California, Los Angeles, talked with the leaders of the organizations on the cooperation programs. By this visiting to the North America, the relationship between our school and the library & archives & information schools and Business Schools in North America was strengthened. We also did deals with our partners on the teacher’s improving education, exchange of students, academic communication and research cooperation. It laid a good foundation for the further internationalization of our school.
