Professor Dietmar Wolfram Visited and Gave a Lecture

Recently, at the invitation of our school, Professor Dietmar Wolfram from University of Wisconsin visited our school and took part in the academic exchange activities. This activity was also part of the series activities of “Flame Cup”. 

In the afternoon of March 16th, Professor Wolfram gave a lecture on “the Recognition Mode of Query Process Records in Web Searching”. The conference was chaired by teacher Zhang Ning from SIRM. Graduate Students from Information Science actively listened to him and had a lively discussion on relevant problems with professor.

In the afternoon of March 17th, Professor Wolfram gave another speech on “How to judge the Academic Exchange Achievement in 21st Century” in report room 301 in the information building. The lecture was chaired by Dean of our school, Zhao Guojun, while Professor An Xiaomi acted as interpreter.  

In the speech, Professor Wolfram showed his view on the evaluation problem of the academic exchange achievement from three aspects: the definition of academic exchange, the process of academic exchange and the method of evaluation of academic exchange. He introduced the citation analysis method in details and explained the connection and differences between the methods of quotation evaluation and quotationer evaluation by his analysis of the collected data.


Wang Dan, and teacher Zhangning discussed the future cooperation and communication between two schools with Professor Wolfram.
