Entrusted by ICA/SAE, after the first Asia-Pacific Conference on Archival
Education (APCAE) in 2004,the 3rd APCAE was held in Renmin University of
China (RUC) in Beijing, in 23rd-24th Oct 2013. Experts and specialists from the
United States, Canada, Australia, United Kingdom, Sweden, Norway, Germany,
Japan, South Africa, Argentina, Nigeria and other countries participated in the
conference. The conference addressed key current issues including archival
education in a digital world and innovation in archival education in Asia. With
attraction of speakers from all over the world, the conference provided
participants with an opportunity to join in exciting discussions about education
for today and tomorrow.
Dr.Feng Huiling, the executive vice president of RUC, delivered a welcome speech.
In the opening ceremony, Vice-director Dongsheng Duan, The State Archives
Administrationn of the People’s Republic of China’s National Archives made a
congratulation speech, so did Geir Magnus WALDERHAUG the president of
ICA/SAE .
During the Conference, 11 speakers gave participators inspiring presentations
on four sessions:
Development of Archival Education Worldwide;
Mapping International Archival Curricula;
Innovation in Archival Education (Asia);
Archival Education in a Digital World.
The conference’s subject–education in a digital world and innovation in archival
education in Asia-was widely discussed. “The meeting is well organized and has
rich content, promoting the exchange of archive educators, and the international
development of archival science education” said Geir Magnus WALDERHAUG. He
also expressed his great appreciation to Prof. Wang Jian, the executive organizer
of the events on behalf of ICA/SAE. During closing ceremony, a review video
recalled the splendid moments in the venue with everyone’s applause as a
successful conclusion of the conference.
