“Flame Cup” Academic Forum Lecture —— “The Combination of the National Library and Archives of Canada”

In the afternoon, October 27th, the first lecture of the “Flame Cup” Academic Forum Series Events, “The Combination of the National Library and Archives of Canada” was successfully held in Room 301 of the school.

The School of Information Recourses Management and the Key Laboratory of Data Engineering and Knowledge Engineering invited Xie Li, professor from School of Library and Information Science of UBC, chief manager of Department of Archives Management of Canadian Tourism Commission, as the speaker. Master students of SIRM and part of the teachers took part in the lecture.

Prfessor Xie first talked about the reason and purpose of the combination of National Library and Archives of Canada. She shortly introduced the Establish Act of LAC, and explained the reason and the influences of the combination in details. Then she made a brief summary of the speech. Finally it was the questioning freely. Students and teachers raised many detail questions. Professor answers very patiently. At last, with the warm applause, the speech concluded successfully.
