In the afternoon of April 2nd, 2008, 20 archival science major undergraduates of 2007 grade of SIRM visited the First Historical Archives of China and the Imperial Historical Archives (Huangshi-cheng).
With the warm reception and guide of the staffers of archives,the students visited multiple precious archives in the exhibition room and the repository. With the explanation of the staffers of archives,the students had thoroughly understood significant historical events that generated archives.
Then the students visited the Imperial Historical Archives (Huangshi-cheng) which situated on the eastern side of the southern end of Nanchizi Street, southeast of the Working People’s Cultural Palace. The Imperial Historical Archives is China’s oldest state archives. In the early century, it housed a copy of the Yongle Encyclopedia (Yongle Dadian) and later it was used to store important historical documents of the emperors such as the "True Narration"(Shilu), "Imperial Teaching" (Shengxun) and "Precious Records" (Yudie).
By this visit, the students saw precious historical archives that was described in the textbook and enriched their knowledge by staffer’s explanation. Students’ enthusiasms of study were also promoted. The students all enjoyed the visit and expressed that they would study harder in the future.
