Sep 23, 2007, 35 teachers and students of SIRM went to Qingdao City of Shandong province by train. This 3 days survey was organized by SIRM and was highly support by Qingdao City Archives, which provided precious study and communicate chance for the students of SIRM.

Qingdao is a beautiful city near the sea. The survey group first surveyed in the Shandong Entry-Exit Inspection and Quarantine Bureau With the company of Director JIANG from Qingdao City Archives. The survey group visited the general office of the bureau to know the relative business process. The director of record department particularly introduced basic situation and relative experience of Inspection and Quarantine Bureau. Then the students visited archives and the demonstration of OA application. The students were deeply enlightened by the visit. The high level and the mature development of the management system of the bureau were amazing. The students collected the raw materials of electronic government, and knew the newest development of OA from the survey.

At the afternoon of Sep 24, 2007, the survey group surveyed Qingdao City Archives, which built first digital archives in China. Leaders of Qingdao City Archives introduced the development and the achievements of the archives. The bureau put forward the new project of digital archives theory research and wanted to have further cooperation with the academic field. Before the lecture finished, Hongbo JI, secretary of CPC SIRM committee gave present to the bureau to appreciate the bureau’s support of the survey on behalf of the SIRM.

The survey group watched the archives digitalize process and the characteristic exhibition of the Qingdao City Archives. Then they visited Laoshan City Archives to know how the news collecting system, picture process system and network service system work. With the particular explanation of the workers, the students primarily understood the core facility of informationalize.

On the last day of the survey, the survey group visited No.1 industry district of Haier company, communicated with the advanced lectures and leaders to learn archives management of the company. This survey made students combined theory and practice together.
