Chinese Archives Society held 2007 digital archives seminar in Beijing from July 24 to 25, 2007. The conference discussed the orientation of archives, guidelines and construction thoughts of archives top design, the construction of national digital library, long-term preservation of digital archives resource, cooperating management of records and archives and so on. The attendants are from national and local archives, national library, high schools, and software companies. Hewang FENG, President of Chinese Archives Society chaired the seminar. Heping LI, Deputy Director of the State Archives Administration of China (SAAC) delivered opening speech, emphasize the key points of digital archives construction.

As the keynote speaker, Professor Jian WANG in School of Information Resource Management (SIRM) at Renmin University of China (RUC),. presented her speech on "Digital Archives: Misunderstanding & Inspiration", discussed the hot topics on the top design strategy and optimizing model of digital archives, with case studies both at home and abroad.
 
Professor Jiazhen LIU from School of Information of Wuhan University analyzed the obstacle factors of electronic records and archives cooperation management of China. Xiaowei QIU, Director of Scientific and Technological Research Institution of the State Archives Administration expounded the problems and thoughts of the construction and development of electronic records center. Wei SUN, general engineer of National Digital Library discussed on the comparison of digital archives and library. Zhen CHENG, director of Information Consultation Center of National Digital Library talked about the standards of archives digitalization.

Delegates from Archives Administration of Shenzhen Province, Urban Construction Archives of Zhuhai Province, Adobe, EMC, UNIS, E-government Research Center of Tshua University introduced the archives informatization and the standards and technologies took in their units’ archives informatization. As Heping LI, Deputy Director of the State Archives Administration of China (SAAC) pointed out: " digital archives construction and the significance of digital records management".

During the conference, Senlin SUN, general secretary of Chinese Archives Society and Professor Jian WANG introduced the key project "Electronic Records Management Mechanism Research" funded by the China Association for Science and Technology. Many attendants showed their strong interests to the project, and looking forward to the outcomes the research.
