The conference continued on Oct, 24th,2013, three Parallel workshops on
archival education were held in SIRM @RUC, as part of the 3rd Asia and Pacific
Conference on Archival Education, keynote speeches and discussions taken place
around three topics, Achievement of Archival Education Programs; SAE Project
“Curriculum Modules” and Teaching Methodology.
Under the topic of Achievement of Archival Education Programs, Joanne Evans
from centre for Organizational and Social informatics, Monash University,
Melbourne, Australia and Gillian Oliver from School of information Management,
Victoria University of Wellington, Wellington, New Zealand gave participators a
speech named Doing more with less: Strategies for shared curriculum development
and delivery , in connection with the difficulties during teaching, proposed a ideal
solution for further discussion.
Adam Jansen from School of Library Archival and Information Studies, University
of British Columbia, gave a vivid speech Digital records pathways: preservation
begins at creation, around the 8 SAE Project “Curriculum Modules”, and
deeply discussed with participants about the cloud computing and the problems
and strategies of long-term preservation in cloud environment at the end of the
workshop.
And Anna Sobczak from Szczecin University, Poland, presented a inspired speech
on the topic of Teaching Methodology, by proposing a question─ Physicists,
physicians, and geneticists study in laboratories, and why not archivists?
Participators with different backgrounds were divided into 4 groups, warmly
discussed the issues and possible solutions of archival education in the context of
development of information technology, and gave presentations, sharing their
experience and thinking.
During the workshops participators explored the transformation and innovation
of global archive education in digital era, shared curriculum design and training
examples, analyzed the global education and training situation. All delegates
were looking forward to the development of archival education and training.
